New Delhi: WhatsApp on Friday said that messages sent through its platform are encrypted and only the sender and recipient of the message can read it. The statement came amid allegations of alleged leaking of WhatsApp messages from Bollywood actors and concerns over privacy among WhatsApp users.
A spokesman for WhatsApp said: "The company keeps your message secure and is encrypted so that only those you send can read it. No one can read it, including WhatsApp. The spokesperson said that people can connect from WhatsApp using only the phone number and the company owned by Facebook does not have access to the message.

He said, 'WhatsApp follows the guidelines of the operating system maker for device storage. We encourage people to take advantage of all the security features available from the operating system, including passwords or biometric IDs. These security features prevent any third party from accessing the content available on the device.
